The CARDBOARD PROJECT
The Cardboard Project is a major campaign which we launched in 2008, targeted at homeless rescuing WOMEN and the CHILDREN who live in Cardboard boxes, plastic sheet covered make shift tents, leaking tin roof shacks and in similar hopeless living conditions. Our core objective is to rescue them from these living condition, place them in a temporary shelter until a permanent home is found for them. The second focus is on addressing their health issues and that of their children. Many have HIV AIDS and their children [some infected]are also in need of urgent health care, routine vaccination, and day to day medical & dental care.
Added to that is our commitment to help the rescued families gain access to good quality food and clean water. All these areas & issues are addressed simultaneously in order to achieve a wholesome outcome. Most of the Mothers and their children live in squalor, filthy environment, lacking in education, access to school, hope and security.
How the find the Mothers? They are not very difficult to find as many live on the streets. under bridges, in refugee camps and generally where you find a lot of poor, impoverished and displaced people in the nations. So many live in slums and the chances of coming out of there is very slim unless there is an active program of intervention such as the PRECIOUS MOTHERS project.
